Christmas...Travelling...2009

I don't have as much cabin fever right now so I figured it was about time I added a new blogpost. This is either going to be a LONG one or a short one...we'll see. This depends on how much of the coffee has gone through my system and how long Arielle decides to nap this morning. There is a stack of cleaning to be done, starting with the kitchen and ending with my room but hey this takes less momentum at the moment...lol

So this year was the year to travel to Ontario and have Christmas with my parents & fam. It was also Arielle's first time on a plane...something I have to admit I was dreading. However she was an absolute dream on the way there, as the picture shows. She fell asleep just after take off and woke up just before landing and was a complete angel. However, on the way back it was close to her bedtime so she screamed for a good ten minutes before the plane even moved after we got seated. Then she literally slept the whole way home including landing so ten minutes out of 2 and a half hours is fine by me...I'm hoping when I fly with her in February by myself she extends me the same courtesy...minus the ten minute flip out...lol

The whole trip was so much fun. The last time I was in my parent's home was during our last wedding reception so it felt kind of strange to come back with a baby, but yet completely right. The room that her play pen was set up in was the last room I had before I moved out for the final time. I remember laying in bed in that room wondering if I was ever going to get married and have kids (I was 25 when I moved out for the final time :) and then there I was putting my baby to sleep in that room. It was a weird kind of closure, but I liked it. Arielle adapted pretty well to the change in scenery...she didn't sleep as well as she had at home but she did give me some pretty good nights and since Jonathan was on vacation he really helped out by taking her in the morning so I could catch up a bit on my sleep.

Being home did make me long for a time when my parents and siblings could be nearby. Watching how much they love Arielle it makes me a bit sad that they can't be around her on a regular basis. Also it'd be kinda nice to drop her off at my mom's and have some time to myself...lol We are very lucky that we do get to see each other as much as we do and it'll just give us something to look forward to. As Arielle gets older she'll at least be able to remember these trips and look forward to them as much as I do. I can't wait to bring her out to BC in February and introduce her to more family...it'll be good times. I hope she adapts well to the time change there...I'm going to try and change her sleep patterns here at home before we go to hopefully help the transition go a bit smoother.

Now that we're home it's back to the grind, which means Jonathan and I are back to looking for a house. We really want to get out of this apartment and have our own place so the prayer now is that we can cash in on the aparent great deals out there right now and be able to move in soon...soon being spring, hopefully before Arielle's first birthday. Anyway I'm going to post this before Arielle wakes up again as it apparently already took me two days to finish this. Here's another picture...I honestly think she gets cuter every day...but I'm happily biased :)
