A fun baby survey...

...any mom's wanna copy and use in their blog go right ahead...I think this is kinda fun

My First Born (So Far Only Born)

My 1st baby....

1. Were you married at the time? Yes

2. What were your reactions when you found out you were pregnant? Stunned I didn't think we were going to get pregnant that fast...Jonathan said it best 'Wow we're fertile' lol

3. How old were you? 30

4. How did you find out you were pregnant? I kinda knew. My whole body felt different that month but I kept telling myself that it was wishful thinking and that I shouldn't get my hopes up...then when I was 3 days late we bought a pregnancy test and it was positive! :)

5. Who did you tell first? I took a picture of the positive pregnancy test and texted it to my sister, so she was the very first.

6. Did you want to find out the sex? I was on the fence but Jonathan really wanted to know so we agreed we would find out.

7. Due date? June 27th, 2008

8. Did you deliver early or late? When she was finally delivered it was two days after my due date, but I went into labour on the 28th.

9. Did you have morning sickness? Not really just an aversion to the smell of coffee, which really sucks when one works at Starbucks.

10. What did you crave? Fruits and vegetables. I couldn't get enough cucumber and tomatoes as well as pineapple, banana and pretty much any fruit Jonathan brought home.

11. Who irritated you the most? Probably Jonathan but the poor guy can't help it he was the one around me the most.

12. What was your first child's sex? Girl

13. How many pounds did you gain throughout the pregnancy? Over 50 pounds...I'm still trying to lose the last 20. :p

14. Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? During my pregnancy no, my labour and delivery are a completely different matter to which I refer you to a previous blog I posted about that here.

15. Where did you give birth? St. Boniface

16. How many hours were you in labor? Approximately 25-27 before I finally got my c-section.

17. Who drove you to the hospital? Jonathan and my mom

18. Who watched? Jonathan, my mom and my midwife were there the whole time. My dad was there for the first part of the labour as was a midwife in training. Jonathan and the midwife were at the actual birth.

19. Was it vaginal or c-section? C-section.

20. Did you take medicine to ease the pain? Yeah after almost 12 hours of labour (6 hours of hard labour) I finally got an epidural.

21. How much did your child weigh? 7 lb. 4 oz.

22. What did you name him/her? Arielle Dawn

23. How old is your first born today? 3 Months Old

That was kinda fun...I hope to see some more of you fill this out...if you happen to have the amount of time I seem to have to do this...lol

My baby is almost 3 months old!!

I can't believe it my little girl is almost three months old! In fact it'll be a week today...the idea that last year at this time I would have to know this date for all of the tests I took at the end of October. Then the question that was asked a zillion times, when was the start of your last period? lol I don't think I could have imagined what a year would bring. Although exactly a year ago I wasn't that thrilled because Jonathan was in St. Louis but I think I've let that go now. ;)

Yesterday Jonathan and I were taking pictures of her because she is getting so good at holding her head up I couldn't believe it. She's found her hands and is forever holding them both out in fists as if to say to me 'look mom I found these things and I'm figuring out what they do'. She'll hold onto toys for brief moments although at this point I think the holding is purely accidental...lol She loves to touch stuffed animals because the ones she has each feels different. This morning she was lying next to me in bed running her fingers over a teddy bear...very slowly just watching them go up and down. Then she would coo and giggle with each discovery. It is so amazing literally watching her learn!

My mom came out last week to spend a few days here and she brought some photo albums and my old blanket. I took this thing everywhere in fact I kept it until I was 18 and moved out of the house! I took this picture of Arielle with it she loved the feel of it and just couldn't stop laughing. I personally was in awe...here was this blanket that was on my bed and with me up until I graduated high school and there is MY daughter playing with it. It's kinda like the world stopped a bit I will admit there were tears.

Anyway about the photo albums I was looking at baby pictures of me and oh my word can you see the similarities it's almost freaky. There are some pictures of me making the same faces she makes now! From what I can see her eyes and nose are more Banman but her mouth and chin are so me it's nuts. If I ever am able to scan some of these photos in I'll be sure to share.

She is such a delight to be around it's amazing. Her sleeping patterns have gotten much better. For the last three nights she's slept about five and a half hours from her 10 o'clock dream feed. This is amazing to me...I feel so much better during the day although I need to stop waking up at 1 to realize that she's still sleeping so I can be too...lol Her naps are a bit sporadic and sometimes it's a bit of a trial to get her to stay sleeping long enough to get the rest she needs. It's funny she'll fall asleep like an angel with hardly any problems...but then sometimes about 30 minutes in she'll wake up and if I go in there she's all smiles and grins. The problem is if I get her up then she's happy for about a millisecond and then she's tired again...lol So now I've taken to giving her the soother or waiting until the noises she makes are actual cries instead of grunts...lol I'm still learning, but she's a pretty good teacher...not all that patient sometimes but still good. :)

Already into week 10!

So my little girl is already 10 weeks old. I can't believe it! My mom and I talked about her trip out here this week and I thought it was so far away and now she's coming in two days...it's literally felt like a whirlwind! She just gets bigger by the day I think. I can't believe she's almost doubled her birth weight already. But then again when we had her I couldn't believe she was over 7lbs. I think I'm in a perpetual state of unbelief...I can't believe this child is Jonathan's and mine and that I get to keep her. She's just so cute and frankly I think she gets cuter by the day. Every time I look at her she gets just a little bit cuter mostly because she really is constantly smiling...it is all kinds of cute!

She's got a bit of a cold right now so I've had to help her clear her nose which is not a fun process mostly because she hates it. I have to stick this bulb syringe in her nose to extract the mucus (mmm yummy huh?) and if that isn't good enough I have to use saline drops to moisten it. She starts moving her head every time she sees the syringe...so in short she's not very helpful and frankly it's not easy to reason with a 2 month old.

However thankfully it is not a bad cold at all just a case of the sniffles so we have both endured. I wouldn't be so picky about the snot if it didn't impede her eating as much. But it's getting better and there isn't a fever so it's not that bad...why do I keep saying that? Well see my baby is just kind of sick and I hate it...I don't want her to be sick because I can see that it's uncomfortable for her and I want to fix it...oh dear it's just gonna get worse isn't it? Well I signed on for this motherhood gig so I'm gonna have to just suck it up huh? (No pun intended in regards to the snot...lol) Oh dear Lord Sheri stop talking about snot! LOL I hear you, I'll stop. ;)

I like adding pics to my posts because I just find her so cute...hence the random pictures of her...can't help it, gotta share. Today I have cleaned three sleepers that she managed to poop on...I also killed a HUGE spider and tried not to freak out so that I didn't scare Arielle but I swear it was huge. I used one of Jonathan's shoes then realized the floor was dirty and went about vacuuming it. Arielle didn't seem to mind at all but the cat was scared which made me laugh...ahaha

All in all it's been an eventful morning and it's not even noon yet. Anyway Arielle is being a doll and sitting in her chair as she is capable of doing for awhile during the day, so I'm going to go do some dishes before her nap when I will then get a chance to eat...lol I will try to nap but frankly with the amount of sleep she lets me get at night I'm fairly functional throughout the day. I wanted to go for a walk today but there it is supposed to rain so maybe I won't, we'll have to see.

TWO MORE DAYS TILL MOM COMES!! *does a happy dance for Arielle who is, as of yet, unaware of her glee* :)
